
Leonie Bryen works part-time at Volunteering Queensland as an Educator, delivering various training programs as well as being responsible for the development of a range of learning resources for organisations. Her previous experience in education and research ensures that resources developed are innovative and reflect current contemporary volunteering issues. As a presenter, Leonie is passionate and enthusiastic, with an intimate knowledge and understanding of her subjects. Her lively, engaging style ensures that you’re in for an active and informative day.
In addition to education, Leonie has a keen interest in episodic volunteering research and training; and is committed to the pursuit of excellence in the area. She is currently writing several books on the subject and developing tools which will enable organisations to rethink, redesign and evaluate their ways of involving volunteers. Her first self-published book ‘The Quest for EVE’ (2007) is essential reading for anyone involved in volunteering today.
Leonie has Masters of Business (Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies), Diploma of Education (Early Childhood), and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is well-respected in her field, with her research being presented and published at both national and international conferences. She has been involved in numerous research projects through QUT encompassing health and medical research philanthropy; and sustainability in nonprofit organisations.
Leonie also works as a consultant to both government and nonprofit sector,
providing a range of training, consultancy and research.
With a background in teaching and small business; she has two children and is
actively involved in a range of volunteering pursuits.
