Students as active volunteers initiative.

During 2009, Volunteering Qld developed a partnership program with three Brisbane high schools to offer the Certificate II in Active Volunteering (CHC20208) to senior school students. Students undertaking the qualification can gain four of the 20 needed credit points for their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
The qualification includes five core units which cover being an effective volunteer, working with others, maintaining workplace health and safety, communicating effectively, and basic administration skills. Also included are four elective units (chosen according to the individual student’s goals and qualification packaging rules) and a minimum of 30 hours volunteer work.
