Our mission

As the lead agency in volunteering, our mission is to:

1. Advocate for inclusive participation in Queensland.
2. Enable volunteering through research, sector development and partnerships.
3. Recognise the value of volunteering to sustain vibrant and healthy communities.

Our strategic intent statements

Advocacy

We actively advocate for a strong and sustainable volunteering sector in Queensland. This is informed by evidence based research, stakeholder communication and best practice. We provide policy advice feedback and input into public debate. This combined approach focuses on a unique voice for volunteering in Queensland.

Research

We are committed to gathering and creating knowledge which informs all aspects of our work. This research is informed through partnerships with research institutions incorporating evidence from our work. This research focuses on policy ready outcomes to drive better practices in volunteering. Innovation drives both processes and outcomes of this research.

Sector development

We build the capacity of local communities through a range of initiatives in Queensland. We recognise the critical role the non-profit sector plays in building sustainable communities. We provide leadership and support through training, services and resources. We continually inform and enhance our own approaches through our work.

Collaboration (cross sector)

We invite, foster and facilitate collaborations between non-profit, corporate and government sectors. We believe that our mission can best be achieved by a joint effort of all sectors. We approach all sectors as equal partners in our enterprise.

Professional business practice

We are committed to implementing, maintaining and developing best business practices. Professional business practices are critical as a platform for the realisation of our objectives. We draw on industry standards guiding financial management, HR management, business administration and governance. We ensure that the implementation of high standards and competitive business practices are at the core of our organisation.

Sustainable growth

We are committed to growing our resources to maximise our impact. This is achieved through seeking new and innovative opportunities and leveraging our expertise. We are committed to an entrepreneurial approach in our business to bolster our independence.

Queensland wide focus

We support and enhance volunteering across the state. We recognise that as the lead agency in volunteering we have a responsibility to the entire state of Queensland. We are able to achieve this through concerted partnerships with local government agencies, non-profits and business.
