Volunteering Qld's Disaster Resilience Leadership Project is a 4 day capacity building workshop that focuses on the role community leaders play in building community resilience and covers a wide range of topics - community resilience, adaptive leadership and disaster management from a community perspective.
This project has already provided over 160 community leaders, both formal and informal, with the opportunity to share their knowledge and to gain some new strategies and understandings of:
- What is community resilience
- Adaptive leadership
- The Queensland disaster management framework
- What makes for a healthy community
- Assessing community resilience
- Developing projects to trigger change
- Community economic development
- Cross-sector collaboration
- Best practice community engagement
- The emotional impacts of disaster
- Working with volunteers and young people
