Student and youth engagement: Theory and practice
This forum looked at how universities are increasingly developing opportunities to work with community organisations to place students in internships and service learning.
We also launched the findings of our research into how to best engage with and retain young people as volunteers and leaders.
“Student engagement offers a vital opportunity for communities to access people with a diverse range of skills, passions and values. Volunteering plays a critical role within the university community... student volunteering is increasing as universities are developing a range of opportunities in the field of service learning.”
This forum was held during November 2010, with the support of QUT. The presentations below look at student engagement and how to best maximise these opportunities.
