The impact of student volunteering for the university and the community

This forum examined the significant role volunteering plays within academia and in broader society. Presentations were from students, researchers and practitioners and looked at student engagement and how to best maximise these opportunities.

“Student engagement offers a vital opportunity for communities to access people with a diverse range of skills, passions and values. Volunteering plays a critical role within the university community... student volunteering is increasing as universities are developing a range of opportunities in the field of service learning.”

Mark Creyton, Director Education, Research and Policy, Volunteering Qld

This forum was held during April 2011, with the support of the University of Queensland. The presentations below offer a range of perspectives.
