Leadership

Community leadership is critical to ensuring healthy, sustainable and fair communities. We aim to provide leaders with a range of practical resources and tools, designed specifically for working in community settings.

Explore our work on leadership:

Many leadership resources in this section are the result of a partnership project between our Education, Research and Policy Unit and the School of Learning and Professional Studies (within the Faculty of Education) Queensland University of Technology. These resources are acknowledged as such. Development of these resources was made possible through a QUT Community Services Grant received in 2002 and 2004 and was the work of a dedicated group consisting of staff and volunteers representing Volunteering Qld and Queensland University of Technology. Thank you Angela Ballard, Annie Breen, Dulcie Bronsch, Neil Cranston, Mark Creyton, Lisa Ehrich, Sara Fuller, Gabriel Goh, Stuart Lawson, Katrina Lewry, Stephen McGarrigle, Carlton Meyn, Rachel Odgers, Deb Olive, Paul Songhurst, Scott Thouard, Rachael Truscott, Brendan Vine and Louise Zimmerman.

We would also like to acknowledge the work and support of the Brisbane City Council. Since 2001 Brisbane City Council have sponsored regular Community Peer Leadership Programs which have seen community leaders from a range of cultural, sporting and environmental groups participate in an extensive leadership development program facilitated by Volunteering Qld. Some of the leaders who have participated in these programs are featured in case studies of this section.
