Homeless Connect
Each and every night more than 100,000 people in our country are sleeping rough. No one plans this life for themselves, nor do they plan on the complex range of issues that led them to this point.
Each year, Brisbane City Council and Volunteering Qld join forces with some very special volunteers to run Homeless Connect. This important one-day event links homeless people with vital services that many of us take for granted.
Homeless guests can access a wealth of services in a one-stop-shop environment including employment, legal, government and other services. Guests can have a haircut, get a health check or learn about housing options. There is also a donations room where guests will find clothes, canned food, bedding, toiletries and much more. A hot meal is provided and entertainers will be onsite to make this an enjoyable day for all involved.
It has been said the real test of a community is how it treats its most vulnerable citizens. Help us to prove what a great community Brisbane is. Express your interest in volunteering for Homeless Connect.
It doesn’t matter where your skills lie, you can make a big difference by joining the Homeless Connect volunteer team. You can get involved in catering, hosting, helping manage donations or as an entertainer.
We are also looking for professionals who are willing to share their special skills with those less fortunate. Doctors, dental nurses, podiatrists, massage therapists, hairdressers and more will be welcomed.
Volunteers who assisted at past Homeless Connect events found it a rewarding experience, helping 7,000+ people to connect with services that would have otherwise been out of reach.
