SAAVI Student of the Term 3, 2016 - Cheyenne

Cheyenne is a Year 12 student from Ipswich State High School who is completing a CHC34015 Certificate III in Active volunteering through our Students As Active Volunteers Initiative (SAAVI).

Cheyenne loves to help others and brighten up their day. She has dedicated time to volunteering at The Animal Welfare League, Cityhope Care and Tarampa Lodge. One of her most memorable experiences has been playing with the kittens at The Animal Welfare League.

During Cheyenne’s studies she has been able to improve her communication skills. Cheyenne believes this has helped her confidence during job interviews and aided in bettering her customer service skills.

Cheyenne’s teacher, Tanya McKenna, said Cheyenne is ‘meticulous’ when it comes to completing her SAAVI competency booklet. Cheyenne takes initiative by always being the first to put her hand up for opportunities and actively encourages her fellow classmates to get involved as well.

One of Cheyenne’s goals when she finishes school is to assist deaf children by teaching them sign language. She also has plans to complete a Bachelor of Visual Arts.

Well done Cheyenne! Congratulations on being our SAAVI Student of the Term 3, 2016. For her efforts we have rewarded her with an iTunes gift card. Cheyenne plans to purchase drawing apps that she has wanted to try.
