Volunteering this Christmas 2017

Christmas is often a time to celebrate with family and friends, however many other families and individuals are often doing it tough and may need that extra support during this festive season.

Volunteering Queensland and other volunteering-involving organisations alike are inundated with requests for help in the lead-up to Christmas. Volunteering opportunities can vary from retail assistants, food drives to gift wrapping. Other ways you can assist is to donate non-perishable food items, toys, books and other gifts to your local charity.

If you don’t have the time to volunteer, why not take the time to check in with your neighbours? Many people, especially the elderly spend Christmas alone, so a friendly face can make a world of difference.

Volunteering opportunities:

Christmas Day Lunch, Brisbane

for Wesley Mission Queensland

Wesley Mission Queensland is currently recruiting volunteers to assist at our annual Christmas Day Lunch at Albert Street Uniting Church to feed people from all walks of life, including the homeless and marginalised. Shifts are available on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Gift Wrappers, Brisbane City

for Wesley Mission Queensland

With your help, Wesley Mission Queensland will raise money through gift wrapping to support Queenslanders who would otherwise have little or nothing this Christmas.

Red Bag Appeal Volunteer, Chermside

for Wesley Mission Queensland

Wesley Mission Queensland is looking for a reliable volunteer to assist us weekly (preferably on Thursdays) collecting and delivering Red Bag Christmas food donations from various locations across Brisbane. Transport will be supplied by either a fleet vehicle or by staff driving you to and from the pickup point.

RizeUp Christmas Drive, Brisbane

for RizeUp Australia

RizeUp Australia each holds a Christmas Drive for Gifts for Families who will be living in Refuge at Christmas time. The Families have been affected and displace by Domestic and Family Violence. To bring a little happiness and normality into their lives we ask the community to donate toys.

We need Volunteers to collect donations and hand out flyers at Roma Street and Central Railway Stations during peak times
