Cape York Girl Academy student, Aretha is winner of the SAAVI Student of Term 3 2020 undertaking the CHC24015 Certificate II in Active Volunteering via our Students as Active Volunteers Initiative (SAAVI).
Aretha is a hard-working student at the academy who volunteered at her school as part of her course. This included food preparation and production in the school kitchen for boarding students, cleaning of the pool and landscaping and building of a new footpath at the school.
During her volunteering, it was noticed by others that she notices what needs to be done and offers to help. She would pay attention to her surroundings and seeing when others needed help chipped in before resuming what she was doing.
"The school Principal and various sections of the school Aretha has volunteered in are very pleased with her turning up and completing tasks, using her own initiative." Kathy Hamilton - Trainer
Aretha has improved her time management skills and self-confidence has improved to the level where she takes the initiative to seek any activities to complete, with staff supervision.
We wish Aretha all the best for her future and congratulate her on being SAAVI Student of the Term 3 2020. For her efforts, she was presented the SAAVI Student of the Term Award and a $50 Gift Card.
