About this opportunity

The Stand Up, Step Out service provides a mobile showering and laundry service within the Brisbane North region between Zillmere and Aspley in the south, Lawnton in the north and across to Sandgate and Brighton in the east. Complementing existing place based services and community centres, SUSO supports those experiencing homelessness by providing showering and laundry facilities, as well as homelessness and mental health case worker services that instil dignity whilst also breaking the cycle of homelessness and poor health.

The primary purpose of this role is to collect and drive the vehicle from its stabling point to pre-determined locations within the service region where the volunteer will ensure the vehicle is parked safely and legally, allowing suitable access to service users. The volunteer will also be responsible for overseeing the technical operation of the vehicle services, i.e. heating, showering and laundry, as well as managing the filling of water tanks and draining of greywater.
