Media release

Students, education providers, and volunteer involving organisations across Australia are
invited to join in the celebrations during National Student Volunteer Week 2022 by sharing
their volunteering stories and highlights through the social media campaign, promoting
volunteering roles for students, and hosting awards and appreciation events.

National Student Volunteer Week 2022 acknowledges and celebrates student volunteers,
and promotes volunteering to students and young people across Australia.

This year National Student Volunteer Week will be 8 – 14 August 2022.

The theme this year is Passion. Opportunity. Change. which explores how students can
realise their dreams and effect change across the world…and it all starts with the act of
giving their time to a cause they believe in.

We invite all students, education providers, and volunteer involving organisations across
the country to participate in National Student Volunteer Week. In 2022, all participants will
have access to resources to assist with planning and executing volunteering activities as
well as promoting volunteer events and campaigns.

National Student Volunteer Week gives students the opportunity to lead others in
connecting to their community and offering kindness. Students are provided with the
chance to explore the personal and professional benefits of volunteering, which include
valuable work experience, enhanced feelings of self-worth, refinement of values, increased
understanding of people, local and global issues, and reduced social isolation. NSVW also
recognises the significant skills, ideas, enthusiasm, creativity, and time that young people
contribute through volunteering.

On behalf of the state and territory peak body network, Volunteering Queensland will be
running a National Student Volunteer Week Panel Discussion highlighting the future of
student volunteering and what it means to be a student volunteer. Join SEEK Volunteer and
Student Volunteer Army panellists at this free event which will touch on topics such as: the
benefits and challenges of being a student volunteer, volunteering and your career
progression and prospective volunteering opportunities.
